London, 05 February 2009: Gigafone, the leading mobile marketing solutions group, today announced that its patented mobile marketing system, RingMate is being showcased in Ogilvy Group UK’s London Innovation Lab, which is designed to explore new ways in which brands can communicate and engage with their customers.

RingMate enables brands to deliver engaging, personalised content to mobile user segments and communities on an opt-in basis. Subscribers can personalise their mobile with full-screen interactive content, allowing brands to enter into dialogue with consumers through RingMate’s unique non-interrupt method of displaying relevant content.  Only activated by incoming calls and messages, content is available for subscribers to view at the beginning and end of a call or message. Following a call, consumers can either use the one-touch click-through to the mobile web and enter competitions or call operators directly, if something catches their eye.

Gregory Khaldey, President of Gigafone added said “We are very proud not only to have gained entry into this forward thinking mobile technology showcase, but also to have backing from Ogilvy’s campaign teams which contain some of the world’s brightest thinkers on digital marketing. This is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate the capability of our platform to some of the world’s biggest brands in a collaborative environment.”

Scott Seaborn, Head of Mobile Technologies for Ogilvy Group UK, welcomed the addition of Gigafone to the Lab. “At Ogilvy, we strive to stay ahead of the latest trends in brand engagement, and the Gigafone full-screen, user profiled solution gives us the opportunity to put this new type of marketing under the spotlight”.

In conjunction with the Ogilvy Lab residency, Gigafone has initiated a mobile marketing trial in the UK involving stakeholders drawn from brands, agencies, mobile operators and consumers interested in trialling a new form of mobile marketing. The trial will foster broad discussion around how mobile phone users engage with sponsored content that they have full control over receiving, and define some of the key principles for facilitating ongoing consumer brand interaction through the mobile channel.

More information on the Innovation Lab and UK trial is available from: www.gigafone.com.

Gigafone will also be exhibiting at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona 16 – 19 February 2009 at Stand AV 16, located on the main avenue. In addition, Gigafone is taking part in the Annual Ogilvy Telco conference, run in parallel with the congress in Barcelona.

What we think?

The RingMate platform is a good idea as regards not annoying customers. Having the ads come up after a call or text is finished is a fairly good guarantee that it won’t be interrupting anything. And the service seems to be quite customisable at the user-end, so subscribers can choose to receive ads and offers that are relevant to them. It’s also a great boost for Gigafone’s standing. Ogilvy are known as innovators in mobile marketing, so being accepted to the Innovation Lab really means something.

Full disclosure: Gigafone is a client of mine – but I am extremely proud that Ogilvy have invited Gigafone to showcase their application and talents in their London Digital lab.
