I wrote this article for a leading Australian business magazine, but I thought it worth sharing here also. If you know all about Foursquare already then there is no need to read this post! It does however contain some “top tips” towards the end of the piece. The first question many of you may be asking [...]

On my recent trip to Sydney, I picked up an iPad (around £100 cheaper in Australia given I could claim back the 10% GST as I was taking it out of the country, and it is not subject to the “cost of doing business in the UK” Apple tax). What has amazed me is that everyone [...]

I have been fairly quiet on the blogging front of late (inversely more active on twitter), but in between posts I have been spending a lot of time talking to large, well known companies about their social media strategy. Like many in the mainstream press, I keep reading that social media / Twitter / Facebook [...]

This week sees London host two important events, one being the G20 meeting, the other is carnival of the mobilists, hosted right here in London at London Calling. For those of you who don’t know much about the carnival – have a look at www.mobili.st and to the one person this week who emailed me thinking [...]

Just some advance notice that the London Calling crew (that’s me) will be visiting Sydney in April. I’m travelling with my wife and daughter to see our family and friends (have not been back to Sydney since we moved to London in October 2006) and during this week I will be meeting with a number of brands, agencies [...]
My morning commute has been made a little more pleasant with the introduction of a new piece of Nokia software from their beta labs – Nokia Headlines. If you’re like me and your morning newspaper of choice is a broadsheet like the Financial Times, or the Daily Telegraph, then you will know how difficult these papers are to read on public transport due to their large format size. Thanks to a new release from Nokia labs, this is a thing of the past.
The Headlines team have secured deals with major brand publishers like the New York Times, International Herald Tribune, the Sydney Morning Herald in Sydney and the Sun in London.

The Australian launch of high accuracy location based services became one step closer with the news that local LBS solution provider Seeker Wireless has achieved sub 100m location accuracy in the Sydney CBD using standard GSM handsets. Seeker Wireless have been developing high-accuracy, low-cost location based services that utilise existing handsets, and GSM networks. General [...]
This was a webcast I delivered back in August 2000 – how things have changed since! In my 15 minute talk, I cover ADSL, portals and mobile internet. One quote from the video was that in 2000, 40% of Australians had a mobile. Watch the video below or read the transcript. Hello and welcome. [...]
