Why do advertisers deny us the ability to skip ads on YouTube?

Many allow you to “skip ad” after just a few seconds, but why do some advertisers insist on inflicting their poorly-targeted ads on me, removing the ability to skip the ad?

I have decided as an act of civil disobedience to always look away from these ads and turn the sound off.

For this reason, I use Vimeo (Pro version) to host all of my speaking videos, ensuring that my audience does not have to watch someone else’s content when they have come to see mine.

Do you also feel the same way when presented with an un-skippable ad on YouTube?

When will advertisers get the message that we’re not watching their ads!
