Yinkus, the E587 has the widest UMTS/GSM/EDGE support, so yes EDGE/GPRS/GSM 1900/1800/900/850 is a yes.
The E586 from 3 in the UK DOES NOT support 1900MHz so has NO 3G support - will only work at EDGE speeds and this can get pretty annoying.

Hi Andrew, I have a Huawei E586, does the E587 also have support for EDGE/GPRS/GSM 1900/1800/900/850 ?

Plan to use the E586 in the USA; but from what I'm reading in your post, it may not be fully supported across some of the carriers?

Thanks.

Andrew - some of the English county councils have been doing this at bus stops for much longer than TFL. I certainly recall first using the service around 3 years ago outside of London - but nonetheless it's a brilliantly simple service.

I've used it lots of times already, Andrew. I'm surprised that this service is not better known -- and that the similar National Rail service is also relatively unknown (send "PMR to CTK" to 84950 to see the next departures from Peckham Rye to City Thameslink). I often use that to check that an infrequent connecting service at Peckham Rye hasn't been cancelled or delayed before deciding which train from home to catch.

Same problem. 3 weeks after getting my first device, i rebooted after deleting an app, then when re-booting it stopped about 1/3 of the way along between the track pad and back key, i held ALT shift and del, and the device began to soft boot again. when i got to the same place, i decided to wait a few minutes, and i got the white screen saying JVM Error 517. i wasn't impressed after reading online that its not fixable, and it was my first blackberry also. Im going to take it back tomorrow, get a diffrent phone after reading other peoples experiences, its just not on. This is why RIM is going under, they cant get anything right.

I had this very same issue, 2X. I'm guessing it has something to do with BES, as I am also running my 9900 on a micrsoft exchange server. I am with Tmobile USA, and just 3 weeks after I bought my new 9900 I got the JVM 517 error. Tmo was speedy to get me out a new phone, but alas JVM 517 came back to haunt almost exactly 1month later. Again Tmo had to send me a new device. I am typing now on my 3rd 9900, and am hoping RIM fixes this error. I have been w/ BB since they were black and white. If I get another JVM 517 I will be done. 3 strikes your out.

"NOTE: DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE TRAVELLING FROM OR LIVE IN THE US. US power boards are designed for 110V circuits and plugging one into a 220/240V socket in Europe/Asia could be fatal. If you live in a region where the power supply is 220V, it is perfectly safe to plug your 220V rated board into a 110V US socket."

Actually, its the other way around. What you need to be concerned with are amps, not volts. 220v runs at half the amperage and the wiring inside the European power strips cannot handle the loads imposed by the draw with 110v.

What you are suggesting is dangerous. Trust me, I know both as an engineer and as a resident of both the USA and Europe.

[London Calling response: the powerboard from the UK I am using is rated at 13A and has a 13A fuse in it - it should be ok for laptops and phone chargers]

One of the best deals for the US is t-mobile's $2 a day prepay deal, which gives you unlimited voice, text and data. Admittedly, it's only 2G speeds, but for most things (email, social media, maps) that's more than adequate. If you fork out $3 a day, you can get 4G data speeds - but this will only work on compatible handsets, and specifically not iPhones.

You can only pick up the SIM from a t-mobile store, where they should set it up with the correct APN, etc. Walmart do a $30 monthly prepay deal, but you have to buy a handset to get it, which only makes it worthwhile if you're travelling regularly.
