what is the collective noun for a gathering of mobilists?

 In conference

An interesting evening was had tonight at Home in London, where Dominic Travers and Ryan Carson from Carsonified hosted a dinner to gather thoughts about the next Future of Mobile conference to be held in London in November.

An excellent gaggle (is this the right collective noun?) of thought leaders in the mobile space were in attendance including Dan Lane from Howler Technologies, Mike Stead from Hutchison, Simon Rockman from Sony Ericsson, James Whatley from Spinvox, Helen Keegan from Beep Marketing, Victor Keegan from The Guardian and yours truly.

There were others there as well but I did not get everyone’s card. There was also an amazing magician who did card tricks that involved guessing your card and displaying it on his iPhone – very mobile!

It was a great evening and as the wine and food flowed, there were many interesting discussions about the future of mobile, the new N96, Flickr, Twitter, Dopplr, handset UI, data tariffs, mobile advertising and location.

UPDATE: See James Whatley’s QIK feed from the event, showing a pre-release Nokia N96 vs a Nokia 95 playing a game – showing the N96 really struggling with simple graphics.

Hopefully that notes that Dominic from Carsonified will help to produce an even better future of mobile conference in November.

Thanks to Dominic and Ryan for the invitation, and I encourage other conference producers to tap into the wealth of experience, and zeitgeist by hosting a dinner for mobile evangelists and help produce superior mobile conferences.
