I was using another wordpress mobile plugin back when I wrote this post but the Author stopped supporting it – so I changed to Mobile Press from http://mobilepress.co.za/ and it works well out of the box. Go to http://www.andrewgrill.com/blog from your mobile to see it in action – yes it autodetects a mobile and formats each page for a mobile on the fly.

Hmmm. Recently I was looking at wordpress plugins, and I found one that supposed to make a mobile friendly version of your website. The plugin author said that the piece of software would ‘auto detect’ mobile devices, and so return the mobile version of your blog for the visitor.

The plugin was free, and seemed great (well, SOUNDED great, I didn’t test it).

I thought I bookmarked the URL, but alas, I cannot find it anywhere.

Having just read your post, I am wondering if it is the plugin that you mention in your may 10th update at the bottom of the post… The page looks different, but I will give this one a go anyway!

I also spotted a plugin that allowed subscribers to your blog to opt in to text updates, that can be sent direct from your blog admin (wordpress dashboard) – I am SRE I didn’t dream this!!!! – Do you guys know anything about such a plugin, or am I going to have to post on a freelancer forum to try to get one made???!

I totally agree, if you’re talking the talk you need to be able to walk the walk too.

I’ve been preparing an article for my site which goes through a large number of the blogs of so called mobile evangelists.

Surely I’m not alone in seeing the irony that some (read most) of these folks don’t have mobile versions of their sites?
